Itami Plane Spotting

"I think I'm going to die" is the common sentiment expressed by neophytes at the landing observation site at Itami Airport. It is really exciting to have a 747 roar over your head close enough to feel the breeze. I've been told by people who couldn't possibly know for sure, that this is the closest you can get in Japan to a major airport runway. Lots of families and young couples gather here any day of the year for top quality free entertainment. There is also a contingent of "residents", guys with tower-band radio receivers who come every day and hang out. They look pretty freaky for the most part, and they don't seem to pay any mind to the landing planes. They have their own hidden agenda, and nobody else wants to get close enough to ask them. They are captured here in the "itamiotaku" series.
